Mirror Image

I fear the shrewd gaze

Through the looking glass

Bearing my reflection

With unapologetic disdain

Unveiling the true image

Hidden ‘neath flesh and bones

There is no magic mirror

Polished with rosed shine

To show the unflawed me

A perfect self

But a formless darkness

Stares back

With cold crimson orbs

Glinting ominous light

And should I smile

Serrated teeth would grin back

With insidious intent

So I avoid mirrors

I shut my eyes to the unpolished frames

And craft my own angelic image

For the world to see

For myself to believe

That evil doesn’t exist

Inside of me

  2. The poem is short but carries a lot of meaning if scrutinized properly.

Such a profound way of writing. Love the beginning part of it( I fear the shrewd gaze )
and the end part of the poem just made it look real again( Inside of me)

Thanks for giving me that mindset about emotion as you said in your poem explanation.

  3. So here I find myself in your losty self
A moment I thought you couldn’t be found
    And then it gazes back
That same moment you threw away
It looks me in the eyes
    And flares confusion instead
As it gropes back to you
In need of a hold of life
In need of a hold at warmth
The warmth you so deny her
The true essence of your beauty
Hidden behind mascarad eyes and glossed lips
In others lipstick smagged and tainted
In roses and in some crimson
So the person is not evil
    For evil knows no evil
    But good sure sees evil
If only you could uncover her
So would all your beauty hence forth burst….

Sorry I had to challenge that beautiful…again my weird mind, wrapped in wakes of silver as shine creeks off darkness.

    1. Wrapped in silver as shine creeks off darkness, that was really nice. And also I inspired a whole poem! 😄 You beautifully characterized the rejected persona ❤️

  6. Oh the absolute horror when you see the true self in the mirror standing before you, completely exposed and the flaws over-amplified, but I guess you should remember that the brain is a sly thing, it shows you what you think the truth is, not what the reality actually is. Maybe one day you’ll leave the negativity far behind and see a beautiful human genuinely smiling back at you
