I fear the shrewd gaze
Through the looking glass
Bearing my reflection
With unapologetic disdain
Unveiling the true image
Hidden ‘neath flesh and bones
There is no magic mirror
Polished with rosed shine
To show the unflawed me
A perfect self
But a formless darkness
Stares back
With cold crimson orbs
Glinting ominous light
And should I smile
Serrated teeth would grin back
With insidious intent
So I avoid mirrors
I shut my eyes to the unpolished frames
And craft my own angelic image
For the world to see
For myself to believe
That evil doesn’t exist
Inside of me
