Reflections and Future Plans

I wonder if anyone remembers me. I don’t think I’ve been missed, but I do miss posting poetry and short stories on this platform. A lot has happened in the time since my last post. I have moved back to my home country and re-adjusting to my family life has been mentally and emotionally taxing. I am happy to reunite with them after being gone for five years, but saying goodbye to many of the personal freedoms that independence had given me has been very rough. I do not miss Japan in terms of working, but solely in regards to the life I had been able to make for myself there.

Being in a long-term relationship, too, also affects that comfortable solitude I’d had. Bouncing between family and a partner without having a space I can completely call my own has been…draining, to say the least. But I am not ungrateful for the love and family that I have around me, because I also missed that too.

I have still been writing, and during my hiatus, I decided to work on two stories I hope to publish in the near future. I am still figuring out their lengths and fleshing out their respective plots, but I’m very excited to give self-publishing a go.

I thought of making a new blog, to track my writing progress and delve into other areas of writing, but I believe I should just work on maintaining what I’ve already built here rather than to just let it float in obscurity. I’m proud of all the work I’ve done here and I want to continue.

Of course, it’s my hope to make new connections and friends with fellow writers and to keep at the only hobby that consistently feeds my faith and optimism for a better and brighter tomorrow.

Thank you for reading and be well!
